Course or Coarse fishing is a type of freshwater fishing with the aim of catching target species such as Carp, Bream, Tench, Roach, Rudd, etc. The coarse fishing close season is 15th March to 15th June inclusive and applies to all rivers, streams and drains in England and Wales, but does not apply to most stillwaters.
Coarse fishing can be generally divided into three subgroups:
Sit back, relax and enjoy your surrounding. Pleasure fishing is all about the enjoyment. Have fun while catching anything you can.
Specimen anglers are after the big ones. A specific species or even individual fish is targeted with the aim of catching a larger then average fish.
Anglers (usually members of fishing clubs) will gather together and compete in matches to see who can catch the largest total weight of fish in a specified period of time.
