Species

Tench & Bream

Both popular species, mainly found in stillwaters although large fish can occasionally be found in slow moving sections on some rivers. Generally moving in shoals, they can be prolific feeders and are great sport, when fishing with light tackle.

Feed the swim at regular intervals or lay down a bed of bait in order to keep the fish in the swim. Groundbait can be an effective food source to encourage Tench and Bream into the area, along with free offerings such as maggots, worms, bread flake, pellets and sweetcorn.

Silverfish

Chub, Dace, Roach, Rudd and Skimmer Bream are often referred to collectively as 'silverfish' due to their colouration. They are all popular angling species found throughout many rivers and stillwaters. One of the most efficient way of catching small species such as this is to fish using a float and feed small baits such as maggots, casters, sweetcorn and worms.

Carp

The wild carp was originally farmed for food in Asia, leading to a number of variants to be produced, including the common, leather and mirror forms.

Due to the conditions of lakes and the amount of bait being put in by anglers, carp are growing in weight and fish weighing in excess of 60lb have been recorded.

Pike & Zander

Predatory fish such as Pike and Zander are attracted to live or deadbaits such as roach, trout, smelt, mackerel, sprats and other small fish. They are also often fished for using artificial baits specifically designed to attract predatory fish.
